Indy Tails Magazine: "Best Private Training in Town" [Posted 09/12/05]
Some of you may know that the magazine, Indy Tails recently had a "Reader's Choice" poll to vote on different animal related services and providers. I had thought nothing of it until I picked up the last edition to see that "Warren Patitz" /"Doggone Connection" was voted "Best Private Training Class" and was "1st Runner-Up" for "Best Group Training Class." Soon thereafter, two certificates arrived in the mail from Indy Tails.
Of course this is flattering and humbling - but at the same time it is somewhat misleading. First, I have not done any private "training" in quite a while - but believe that this generous vote of confidence for "Best Private Training Class" was perceived by many who have attended our program (and cast this ballot) because they received the one-on-one attention by each of the terrific instructors who are a part of the Doggone Connection team. This, I suspect, was what translated as "private training." Second, the Doggone Training program is simply a portal for the sharing of a spirit of benevolence and compassion for dogs (and all animals) that is delivered by a collective effort.
With all due respect to Indy Tails and the kind people who cast their ballots, I prefer to appreciate that these awards are the result of the collective effort of all the trainers, and not of any one individual.
Each instructor adds their unique perspective, experience and gentle touch to the program and because of this, participants and their dogs receive a wealth of information and learning from our classes. Frankly, this is why people and their dogs attend this program.
Thanks to each of the trainers who make this program possible, special thanks to the people who have a commitment to better understand the animal that they have brought into their home and lives and even greater thanks to the dogs who are the true teacher.
Sincerely,
Warren.
