Rescue Rally" is a unique and creative initiative by move to ACT to recognize, reward and assist the all-volunteer rescue organizations that pull animals facing imminent death from Indianapolis Animal Care and Control where 55% of animals who enter that facility will not leave alive. Did you know that Marion County legislators allocated $1.8M last year to kill 8,000+ adoptable animals?

Large and popular animal welfare agencies like, "Humane Society of ..." have many privileges that others in the market place don't have. They are able to advertise themself with a "brand name," afford salaried professional marketing and public relations personnel and attract well-connected board members. Together these benefits enable the agency to attract literally millions of dollars. And being a large corporation, they actually require this kind of revenue to self-perpetuate and pursue community initiatives. Recently our local Humane Society received a $150,000 Pulliam Grant and a $500,000 gift from the estate of a board member’s parents. The all-famous "Greatest Spectacle in Dog Walking" will soon take place and is expected to bring in between a quarter to half million dollars! Popularity + community connections = $$$!!!

But lost in all the glitz and buzz are the small, selfless, all-volunteer rescue organizations. These "work-horse" organizations make significant personal and financial sacrifices, don’t talk about themselves, have bake and garage sales to meet their tens of thousands of dollars of medical expenses and tirelessly continue to assist the IACC staff by pulling animals from imminent danger from disease and death out of the city's facility.
